So the reason that we are in Georgia for the month of December is the obvious, Christmas, but also Toby's dad is building an "out building" or what we call a huge garage. Toby got sick 2 days after we got here with something that really messed him up. He had a really high fever of 103-104 and was coughing non stop. So we lost about 1 1/2 weeks of building time. When he finally got better enough to work we got started
We had to cut down a bunch of branches because the building was going to be REALLY tall.
Toby's best friend Keith is such a nice guy and came to work when ever he could, and it wasn't like it was light work. I don't think we could have done this job with out him. Thanks Keith.
The mud/clay here is so heavy and we had to fill in a big chunk of land before we could build anything. Also we had the weather against us. It rains like every other day.
We decided that we were just going to have to build in some rain and luckily we picked a warm rain day.
The walls are REALLY heavy. So the wonderful missionaries came to help. We were able to get all 4 walls up on the same day. So while we were building the other 2 walls they helped move more dirt/clay.
It was fun building. Toby and I worked together on a project with my dad and brother-in-law, so I have a little framing experience. It was fun though working with Toby.
I hope you can see how big this thing is. It it 20X32 and the walls are 10 feet tall. Oh yeah that there is also a bonus room on top.
The missionaries came back again to help us put the trusses on. I have never seen trusses put up by hand before. It was...interesting but they did a great job. There is a lot more done on the building now I will just have to go get some more pictures. But it is looking good.
Just to show how spoiled Sadie is here. Big dogs are not allowed in the house (but apparently Sadie is the exception) Doug sure loves her. She will sometimes sleep in his room with him. If she sleeps in out room and hears that he is up in the morning she will sit at our door and whine until we let her out to go be with him. What a life this dog has.
